The West Michigan Environmental Action Council has teamed up with The Rapidian to establish a news bureau dedicated exclusively to environmental issues that impact West Michigan. Beginning later this month, Rapidian readers can go to the “Nonprofits” tab and find these stories from The Environmental Bureau, presented by WMEAC.

The Environmental Bureau is one of a few neighborhood news bureaus that will focus on specific areas of interest to readers. WMEAC staff and volunteers are excited about this partnership, and hope to shed light on important environmental issues that may not receive much consideration from conventional news sources.

WMEAC is seeking writers for this bureau. Journalists and aspiring journalists interested in covering local environmental issues should contact Bridie Bereza, [email protected]. The Environmental Bureau, presented by WMEAC, will operate from WMEAC’s headquarters at 1007 Lake Dr. SE in Grand Rapids.

The Rapidian, a program of the 501(c)3 nonprofit Community Media Center, relies on the community’s support to help cover the cost of training reporters and publishing content.

We need your help.

If each of our readers and content creators who values this community platform help support its creation and maintenance, The Rapidian can continue to educate and facilitate a conversation around issues for years to come.

Please support The Rapidian and make a contribution today.
