Seidman Boys & Girls Club is excited to announce that Kekla Magoon will make a special appearance on Thursday, June 17. Kekla is a well known children’s author who wrote the award-winning book The Rock and the River, which is about a young teen that faces some tough decisions during the Civil Rights Movement. Kekla is more than just an author; she is also a speaker, teacher, editor, and all-around wacky, cool person. Kekla will be having a meet and greet from 11:00am- 12:00pm at Seidman Club. Following this appearance, she will visit the Vander Veen Center for the Book’s teen writing workshop and the Ryerson Auditorium at the Main Grand Rapids Public Library for a pizza party. Those who attend the pizza party will have a chance to win her book and hang out with Kekla! We hope to see you at the Seidman Club Thursday, June 17 for this great event!
