Farmers Market Cooking : Root Vegetables

Saturday, October 11, 2014

9:30am-1pm

We’ll meet at Acorn Studios for a cup of coffee or tea and a recipe briefing before walking over to the Fulton Street Farmers Market.  Aura Nelson, the Cooking Light Magazine blogger behind the whole foods recipe site, Dinner With Aura, will walk you through the farmers market, stopping at her favorite market vendors to stock up on fresh, seasonal Michigan produce.  When you arrive back at Acorn Studios, she will discuss unique ways to use a variety of root vegetables and will show you how to incorporate root vegetables in fresh new ways while creating a three course meal. White bean-celeriac dip, cast iron skillet chicken pot pie with kale and sweet potatoes, and a puff pastry top are on the menu. The class will be part demo, part hands-on participation. Class participants will sit down to enjoy their roots revival meal at the end of class.
