Downtown Market open for holiday weekend

The Outdoor Market will be open all three days this 4th of July holiday week: Tuesday (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.); Thursday (4 p.m. – 7 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.-2 p.m.). The indoor market hall will be open regular hours all weekend, including 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4.

Kids at the Market activities: Tuesday mornings, from 10 a.m. to noon (Market Terrace)

  • July 1: Story time with Author Terri Rowe, who will read her kids books “Green Goo,” “Who are you?” and “Emily’s Cat Tale.”
  • July 8: Traveling Zoo: John Ball Zoo volunteers will bring animals to the Market!
  • July 15: Bubbles and music parachute fun
  • July 22: Science on a Stick: Kent County 4-H staff will engage kids with simple experiments
  • July 29: Physical Literacy: Making movement fun with hand-eye and foot-eye coordination practice
  • August 5: Healthy eating habits: The Market’s education department demonstrates how to make healthy eating fun!
  • August 19: Tie-dye watercolors
  • August 26: Yoga for pre-schoolers introduces kids to yoga through stories, songs, music and movement
Chefs at the Market: Saturday mornings, from 10-11 a.m. (Market Terrace)
  • July 5: Jacob Bandstra, Downtown Market: “Independence day at the Market” - Jacob will demonstrate how to create dishes for your holiday weekend get-togethers with ingredients found at the market!
