An interview with Talib Kweli

On April 24, internationally renowned hiphop star Talib Kweli, came to the Intersection for his third show in a little more than five years. Opening acts featured local hip hop stalwarts Rick Chyme and La Famiglia, while Kweli featured his long-time producer, Hi-Tek, on the boards.

i am a writer by desire, not by training, if you see too many run-on sentences, i apologize, i will improve, but right now as i get the content out of my head, i am not as focused on proper english grammar, and more specialize in my own form of web grammar, please excuse.... as hiphop goes, i will be there to follow, and report on, and if Google ever comes to town, you can expect more of the same....

The SEVENth

The SEVENth

A conversation with the SEVENth

I like to consider myself an astute listener to the local trends, and, in particular, the local music scene, especially as it relates to hip hop.  So, it comes as somewhat of a surprise that I had never attended a show by the SEVENth (7th), or Brandon, as his friends know him.  Then again, he is a youngster on the scene, not even twenty-one years old yet, and with a following that typically matches his age, so the local bar and club circuit is not somewhere you typically would find him.  He is a former student at Grand Rapids Christian High School, a graduate of East Kentwood

Flying Without Wingz mixes up a masterpiece

Last Wednesday I went to a great hip hop concert at The Intersection (133 Grandville SW). The Show featured two headline acts 88Keys and the Kidz in the Hall. Before the Headline act was a group that has been previously featured in the Rapidian called Flying Without Wingz.

Chance Jones LP release

On Friday, November 27th, local band Chance Jones released The Incident at Primrose and West LP, yes, they released it on vinyl, at The Intersection. It's available on CD and for digital download as well.

The band played two sets, the latter of the two included the wardrobe featured on the aldum art, and every song, in order, on "The Incident at Primrose and West". Guests got to hear an hour and a half of Chance Jones goodness.
