5 of the Best Interior Design Ideas for 2014

Monday, September 01, 2014

It is the time of year again when we see the end of summer and autumn creeping in; it is getting cooler at night and the colours are changing. It is also the time when we start to consider changing our interiors to match the changing seasons. There are many things we consider when changing our decor, but some that we don't always consider, like changing our furniture or even installing new technology. So here are some of the best ideas for changing your interiors in 2014.

Out with the old and in with the new

It is time to reign in the autumn and one of the best ways is to change our furnishings. As the next season approaches its going to get colder faster and my go to item to change, if it is needed, is my bed. Now I know this is a big item to be changing, but sometimes we all need to up the comfort level in our homes. As we will be spending more time wrapped up warm, I would opt for a TV Bed, now bare with me cos I know that sounds strange, but they are a great way to bring in the winter especially on those long nights when all we want to do is lay back and watch our favourite shows. Teamed with a confortable mattress and new bedding and you will be sleeping on cloud nine before you know it.

A change of scenary is a great way to bring the outside in.

I don't know about you, but for me autumn is all about the colours ourside; from the leaves on the trees to the wild autumn flowers. So it's this time of year that we can bring those colours inside our homes. One of the easiest ways to do this is to change our wallpaper. Before you say "Wallpaper was so 1990's" hear me out. Now adays you can litterally find wallpaper to match every type of scenery....from the woods through to rolling hills. I would look for ones that have the traditional autumn colours within them - ornages, reds, browns....whatver works with your current decor. Easy to hang and a quick way to change any room.

Adding accents is a great way to bring in some new tech for the colder months

Whether you enjoy a cosy home or a high tech home, there are plenty of ways you can bring in some new items that will enhance your daily home life. Some are obvious such as throws to keep you warm on the sofa or  TV in your Bathroom for when you simply must have a long soak...there are plenty of ways to bring the warmth inside. Candles are a great starting point, especially ones with winter smells such as red berries and spices; this way you can enfuse your home with the smells of Christmas. If candles aren't your thing then look for comfy throws, large jumpers and plenty of warming items such as hot water bottles - keeping you and your home nicely relaxed.
