Fundraisers tend to be a dime a dozen. Every cause needs supporters, and the creative ideas to raise funds sometimes seem at a stand still. But, Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth’s 2nd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner allows donors to come face to face with the youth they serve in a unique and meaningful way.

This year’s 2nd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner will take place at the Steil Club in Grand Rapids on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 6:00pm. Each of the 40 tables will bring six donors and three Club members together for a steak and hamburger dinner, where the youth get the steaks! The event provides Club members a chance to interact in a semi-formal dinner setting with the individuals who make the Clubs a reality for them.

The evening’s keynote speaker is Olympic gymnast, Dominique Dawes, who will share her challenges along the road to success. Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth (BGCGRYC) will also take this time to honor the legacy of several significant supporters. Silent auction items and youth prizes will also be available.

“The Club members were all delightful and spoke frequently with us – telling us about themselves, their schools and interests,” said 2009 Gold sponsor Lynn Afendoulis of Universal Forest Products. “It is a rare occasion when people get to see the direct effects of their contributions, but the Steak & Burger Dinner was an event that showed the benefits of integrating the two worlds.”

Of course, this event could not be possible without the generous support of the community. This year’s event sponsors are Meijer and the VanderWeide Family Foundation. Their continued efforts to ensure a safe and educational space for youth in Grand Rapids by sponsoring BGCGRYC special events has resulted in the raising of over $100,000.

Individual tickets as well as corporate tables are still available. Please visit
